Beach Life

What is it about the beach that cleanses your soul and wipes away your stress? I look forward to the day when I happily live on the beach. Wind blown hair, the smell of coconut sun tan lotion, rum drinks, palm trees swaying in the breeze, and all the seafood you care to eat. Sign me up!

Even though living by the coast is not an option right now, I visit as often as I can. The beach is my families' favorite vacation spot. Some people like the mountains, camping at the lake, or going to amusement parks, but for us; it doesn't get any better than the waves crashing on the sand.

Additionally, what's better than fresh seafood right off the dock? Not much in my book. We are on the east coast, so when we frequent the beach we know fresh shrimp, crab, fish, oysters (yuck), and scallops will be on the menu. In our little hideaway, there is a seafood market right on the water of one of the inner coastal waterways. It's maybe a half mile from the sea and boats dock at the market and unload. The market buys whatever the boats brings in that day, fresh. They have about 20 coolers lined up under a shelter with a concrete floor that they keep the catch of the day in. Iced down and ready for you to take home. Ocean fresh, next best thing to farm fresh!

I love coming in after a long day of sun, sand, and sea, ready for a delicious seafood dinner and maybe one of those little frozen fruity drinks, you know, before we get back to the beer and whiskey. Great, now I'm daydreaming and drooling at my desk here....anyway, some of my best memories are from spending time at the beach with family and friends, and eating mounds of seafood, especially shrimp.

The beach is definitely all about getting some relaxation and spending time with family. However, for me, and I think a lot of other people, it's more than that. One of my all time favorite things to do there is reflecting on my life, where I've been and where I'm going. Maybe it's just me, but I like to think a lot and just ponder. Do you know the song "In To The Mystic" by Van Morrison? I think the best line is "Smell the sea and feel the sky, Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic". It seems to sum up the experience quite nicely.

My next planned trip to the beach is in a couple of weeks and I can't wait. How about you? Do you have plans to cleanse your soul with the salty ocean breeze? Maybe you are lucky enough to live there. If so, I hope to join you one day and become a perma-vacationer just like you!

Thank you,
Denison

How To Use The Shrimp Peeler Helper

The Shrimp Peeler Helper is easy to assemble and use. It comes with two pieces total; one plastic base, and a rubber mat.

To assemble, simply slide a red shrimp peeler into the top of the and bam, your done! You're now ready to peel and devein shrimp.

Before you begin peeling, get your work station set up. The Shrimp Peeler Helper is designed to go between two bowls or two plates, one on each side of the base. This allows you to quick drop the shrimp into one and the peel into the other. The unit can accommodate lots of different size bowls and plates depending on the quantity of shrimp you need to peel and devein.

If you have ever used a red peeler, then you are ahead of the curve. If not, it will take a few shrimp to get the hang of it. First grab a shrimp and with the head removed, guide the shrimp down onto the peeler. The peeler point goes between the shell and the meat of the shrimp on the back side. Next glide the shrimp down to the base of the peeler and separate the shell and meat as you go.

Once you have all of your shrimp peeled and deveined you will need to wash them. Using running water rinse the shrimp one at a time. As you clean them run your thumb over the back of the shrimp to be sure they are completely de-veined. You are now minutes away from eating shrimp!

The Shrimp Peeler Helper can now be easily cleaned using soap and water, then air dried.

Chipotle, The Shrimp Gauntlet Has Been Thrown

Dear Chipotle Mexican Grill, I have a bone to pick with you, or should I say a shell. Let me start by saying you guys have some tasty, tasty burritos, burrito bowls, quesadillas, and tacos, however, I find it...lacking.
Yeah I said it.

It's about time you stepped up and added a new item to the menu. Grilled shrimp. I'm talking grilled shrimp burritos, grilled shrimp burrito bowls, grilled shrimp quesadillas, and grilled shrimp tacos.

I can already taste their deliciousness now. Great, now my mouth is watering and I can't even get one. Thanks a lot Chip. I would even be okay if you charged an upgrade fee to get shrimp. Adding shrimp to the menu would also give your customers yet another healthy option. See, it's good for business.

Let me just warn you that if you don't add shrimp to the menu soon, I'm going to be forced to start an add-on service right in front of all your stores. I have it all worked out, people will go in a get a burrito, bowl, etc with no meat/tofu, then bring it outside to us where we will add grilled shrimp right there on the spot. BAM! We'll start on the east coast then spread like wild fire across America.

Bet you're scared now. So avoid Chip Shrimp LLC from setting up shop in front of all of your restaurants and just add shrimp to your menu.

Okay, please.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.
Great, now I'm begging.

Alright, well, I'm just saying if you guys had shrimp it would be delicious. Maybe one day. Until then I will continue to come in for my steak burrito, with white rice, black beans, double steak, little mild, little hot, sour cream, cheese, add guacamole, and a large sweet tea. Sorry I've gotta go. You guys want anything from Chipotle? I'm going now.

Thank you,
Denison
